Adolescent treatments are carried out for 12 to 17-year olds. At this stage, all baby teeth are lost which makes it the perfect time to straighten and set the smile right for life. We normally use ceramic braces as they’re subtle and effective.
A good smile is contagious! In an environment where image is important, one of the best social tools is a great smile. Treatment is frequently started around 11-12 years when the new teeth have grown in, although we often prefer to start sooner. For the older child and young adult we plan treatment with a keen awareness of the significant social and schooling needs during these important teenage years.

Orthodontic treatment during the teenage years is important because it usually coincides with the stage when most baby teeth have been lost and the adult teeth have fully come through, making it the perfect time to guide teeth into the ideal position.
At this age, the jaw is still developing, meaning braces and aligners can work more efficiently and produce long-lasting results.
Correcting crooked or crowded teeth early helps improve dental health by making teeth easier to clean and reducing the risk of gum disease or tooth decay.
In addition, achieving a straighter smile during the teenage years can have a positive impact on confidence and self-esteem, helping young people feel happier and more comfortable with their appearance as they grow.
Ceramic Braces - Our ceramic braces are the most popular and well-known orthodontic treatment for teenagers. Also known as fixed metal or train-track braces, we typically make the brackets a nice white. The brackets are tooth coloured so they blend in with our patient’s teeth and are almost imperceptible.
Invisible Braces - We have our very own Clearline® aligner system, which is similar to Invisalign™. Each case is personally designed by Dr Bass for fast and individual results, using the latest 3-D technology and software.

Orthodontic treatment for teenagers refers to the methods we use to effectively straighten the teeth for those aged 11 to 17 year olds.We have a superb track record of straightening teeth with invisible braces, similar to Invisalign™, but made personally by our own Dr Bass for fast and successful results. Our ceramic braces are also known as fixed metal or train-track braces, with the brackets a nice white tooth colour to make them blend in with our patient’s teeth.
In the UK, most teenagers wear braces for around 18 to 24 months, although treatment time can vary depending on how complex the case is.
Some teenagers may only need braces for a year, while others with more significant crowding or bite issues may occasionally need treatment that extends to 30 months or more. Regular check-ups every 6–8 weeks help ensure that the braces are working effectively and allow the orthodontist to make adjustments to keep treatment on track.
Getting braces as a teenager significantly reduces the likelihood of needing orthodontic treatment later in life. After treatment, UK orthodontists strongly recommend wearing retainers at night on a long-term basis to maintain results.
When the teeth have settled and stabilised we advise using a special retainer one night per month.Teeth naturally tend to shift with age due to growth, genetics, and habits such as grinding or not wearing retainers.
An initial consultation with Dr Bass will cost £195 and we offer ceramic braces starting from £200 per month and invisible braces from £250 per month. Monthly payment plans typically include deposits ranging from £495 to £2,500.
Yes, you are expected to wear ceramic and clear braces permanently including when you are sleeping.
